In the quest for an interchange model between familytree websites, the following collection of quotes from Michael Kay help bring clarity to the challenge.
The purpose of this eGroup is to help those of use who would like to utilize the many features and advantages of XML and incorporate them into genealogy.
At a technical session of the GENTECH 2001 conference in February, Randy Bryson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that the Church is now standardizing on the XML programming language for all future software products. This announcement will have an immediate impact on producers of genealogy software and eventually will benefit all genealogists.
This page allows you to upload your Gedcom file and will return an XML file. While not based on a standard, this is an opportunity to dabble with XML.
